Reporting to the Department Chair and working closely with the Foundational Sciences Lead and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the Anesthesia Faculty will:
- Create and deliver the anesthesia course in year 2 and participate in other clinically based, team-taught courses in the curriculum including activities in the surgery lab
- Assist in the development and delivery of the anesthesia rotation in the clinical curriculum
- Provide consultation services for cases seen by Clemson PCVM Veterinary Services
- Aid in development of the Clemson PCVM lab and clinical case policies and procedures
- Develop assessment strategies in alignment with the overall competency-based curriculum
- Collaborate with other faculty members to ensure integration of knowledge and skills across years and courses
- Actively and effectively engage in student-centered instruction, coaching, and mentorship
- Serve on PCVM and campus committees as appointed or elected
Additionally, the faculty member must have the ability to:
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, possess exemplary verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and function independently with limited supervision and guidance
- Work in partnership with faculty and staff across multiple disciplines and functions across the college and university
- Participate in research and scholarship initiatives designed to improve educational and professional outcomes
Qualifications
- DVM or equivalent
- 3plus years of relevant experience in veterinary anesthesia
Preferred qualifications include:
- Board certification or residency training in a veterinary specialty recognized by the ABVS (ACVAA, ECVAA, etc.)
- Experience and a history of excellence in teaching anesthesia
