Langford Vets is seeking to recruit two Residents in veterinary anaesthesia to work within our team offering referral anaesthesia services and undergraduate teaching. The position will satisfy the requirements for residency training and the successful candidate will be required to register for an alternative residency programme with the European College of Veterinary Anaesthetists. You will be based primarily in the Small Animal Referral Hospital with some time spent in the Translational Biomedical Research Centre, Large Animal Practice, and Bristol Zoo. Visits and externships to equine hospitals with whom we have reciprocal agreements are scheduled to meet the requirements of the training programme.

Along with clinical anaesthesia we provide an acute and chronic pain service and support the intensive care unit in the management cases which require invasive or non-invasive ventilation.

The department currently comprises 5 senior anaesthetists, 4 residents enrolled in an ECVAA training program and 6 anaesthesia nurses. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the on-call rota and participate in small group and individual under- and post-graduate student teaching on clinics.

The position would suit a Veterinary Surgeon wanting to pursue a specialist career, who has spent a minimum of 2 years in practice including a rotating internship. Annual leave entitlement is 33 days (includes bank holidays) and approximately 20% of time will be devoted to scholarly activity on a rota, including 10 days a year available for CPD. The positions are tenable for 36 months and start in October 2023 and January 2024, attracting a salary of £34,282.52.
