Langford Vets, University of Bristol is seeking to recruit a Resident in veterinary anaesthesia to work within our team. The successful candidate will be based primarily in the Small Animal Referral Hospital with some time spent in the Translational Biomedical Research Centre, Large Animal Practice, and Bristol Zoo. Equine experience is gained via externships to equine hospitals with whom we have reciprocal agreements.

We are the largest referral centre in the south-west of England with a busy and varied caseload of around 3,500 small animal anaesthetics a year. The clinical team is friendly, mutually supportive, and recognises the contributions of each discipline to the overall success of patient care. We provide a comprehensive service for acute and chronic pain, as well as support to the intensive care unit. The hospital is equipped to a very high standard, and we have dedicated anaesthesia, ultrasound, and endoscopy units.

The department comprises 6 senior anaesthetists, 4 residents and 5 anaesthesia nurses. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the on-call rota and participate in small group and individual under- and post-graduate student teaching on clinics.

The Langford campus is situated 10 miles south of Bristol in a lush valley on the edge of the Mendip hills. Bristol and its environs are arguably the best place to live in the UK, with a vibrant local food scene, a huge range of cultural attractions and amazing countryside with easy access to hills, ancient woodlands, rivers and the beautiful beaches of the South West and Wales.
